Both options cost 2,99 € / month or 0,006 € / hour,

Hosted in Paris or Amsterdam.

Scaleway / Online.net

Conclusion

There's no reason to use ARM in this case. I usually do database related stuff, and X86 performance seems to be clearly better on CPU & RAM level, which is stressed by this data compression test (7-zip).

Update (2017-07-07)

Since creation this post, Scaleway has doubled the ARM cores / offer. Now the ARM64 / ARMv8 CPU offers do provide superior bang for buck.

Other

Scaleway is just like UpCloud. Setting up and launching everything takes just minutes. Some other service providers haven't even started 'price negotiation' when you're up'n'running in production with these service providers. That's awesome. Also billing by hour is very neat, especially when doing tests like these. You can start and stop new environments at anytime with minimal costs. Like these tests I run, and played a bit around costing me about 0,012 € ouch!

Other providers

It's worth of noting that the X86 (VC1S) delivers better performance and lot more disk space than the OVH SSD 2 which costs exactly twice more.
